UW’s Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity.

Celebrating 50 Years of Fostering Equity, Justice and Equal Representation.

Imagine worked with our partner, Seattle based Studio Matthews to collaborate on this complex project for the University of Washington and OMADEX. We executed applications for hardware fabrication, print graphics and exhibit site installation. This high-profile project was identified as a sensitive and deeply meaningful exhibit requiring precision and craftsmanship.

The final exhibit display provided context into the raw, elemental and institutional human challenges facing DEI landscape in our community. The unfinished materials and textural experience, blended with the creative process, seamlessly unfolded into a powerful experience for visitors, stakeholders and the University of Washington.

Creating a Layered Experience

  • Community Design Effort

    Community Design Effort

Studio Matthews along with collaboration from Kristine Matthew’s advanced Exhibition Design Class at University or Washington (UW) – partnered with Imagine developing an exhibition to celebrate OMA&D’s 50th anniversary.

  • With Budget in Mind

    With Budget in Mind

Once the concept was secured, Studio Matthews worked with Imagine to identify the best approach to engineer a workable and functional exhibit that could be built within an established budget. Our process identified materials and print pathways for success.

  • Dimensional Structures

    Dimensional Structures

With Studio Matthew’s guidance, Imagine fabricated 5 free-standing layered, dimensional structures for viewing engagement. We achieved this with simple construction frames, with direct print graphics and custom profile router cut shapes.

  • The Final Stage - Installation

    The Final Stage - Installation

Our installation team worked quickly and carefully using site-specific restrictions within the busy Allen Library space. Our team constructed each structure quickly and securely to ensure that the impact to the library and the students would be minimal.
